It's called their 50 States in 50 Days promotion. So nothing specific on FPA Worlds. It will air with each version of Sportcenter for Friday and Saturday morning.

זה אמור להיות משודר כמה פעמים.

Hello all,
We're missing you at the FPA World Championships!
It's been a completely stellar day here in Seattle.
Everything went so unbelievably smoothly, the weather
was perfect, and I do mean perfect, the wind was
steady but gentle, the sun was hot, and so was the
jamming! Paul Kenny takes the prize today for being
in not one, but TWO routines that went dropless today.
Wow. Larry Imperiale did some sick right handed guide
set and tiny hoop at a full on run to Jeff Kruger's
completely stretched out horizontal sunset gitis.
Randy Silvey, Matt Gauthier, and Jake Gauthier showed
up with a co-op routine that wowed the crowd with its
energy and smoothness.
This World Championships is the most attended in
recent history, I believe, (with over 65 competitors)
and for the first time I can remember, there will be
three rounds of co-op, giving many of us a chance to
compete and enjoy for all three days!
Our sponsors have really stepped up, and everyone is
having a great time with all the good stuff on the
field, lots of food, sandwiches, juice, energy bars,
water, and other amenities. Tonight we had a full-on
taco bar served on the field by one of our sponsors,
Taco del Mar. Tomorrow night after jamming it's the
Saturday night dance party. We wish you were all here!
The ESPN coverage went great. Apologies to those of
you who were looking for the times, we found out
today: 3, 8, 10, 11 pm pacific time. The filming all
went really smoothly and ESPN crew was really pleased
and said they got some great footage. For sure we've
already heard that Dan Magallanes, Arthur Coddington,
Cindy Kruger, and Mary Lowry were shown playing, and
some interviews were aired as well. I've got some
friends TIVO-ing it (sp?). Maybe folks can still catch
some of it tonight. Thinking of you all fondly...
Love and peace, Lisa

Greetings freestyle friends,
Well, it is now late in the night on the day following
the closing ceremonies of the 2005 FPA World
Championships. I'd like to report that we are all
tired and sore, but happy. It was a beautiful weekend
filled with smiles, and we missed all of you who could
not be here to join us. The weather was for the most
part perfect with periods of intense heat (for
Seattle) and somewhat challenging winds, but all in
all, I don't think we could have asked the weather
gods for much better fortune. All of us here in
Seattle who were able to host this event are so
appreciative of everyone for travelling so far to be
here, and we are delighted that everything went so
well and so smoothly, and so glad that everyone had
such a good time.
FPA Worlds 2005 had great media coverage. In addition
to the ESPN SportsCenter coverage on Friday, the local
Fox affiliate was in attendance, in addition to two
local tv stations (KIRO, KOMO) who did interviews and
took footage. The Sunday before the event, a 7-page
article featuring Mary Lowry was printed in the
Pacific Life insert section of the Seattle Times, with
several terrific photos of Mary and one of The Beast
as well. On the Friday night of Worlds, a nice photo
of Steve Scannel was printed in the Life section of
the Seattle Post Intelligencer, and on Saturday, the
front page of the Seattle Times featured a gigantic
photo of Matt Gauthier with his brother Jake in the
background performing their Open Pairs routine. It was
a great bonus that in the photo Matt was wearing a
t-shirt proudly showing the logo of our main
tournament sponsor, The Hunger Site
(www.thehungersite.com - clicking on a button each day
allows you to give a cup of food to a hungry person).
The photo in the newspaper, and its caption regarding
the event attracted a great many spectators on both
Saturday and Sunday, with an estimated 200-500 people
viewing the competition pretty much all day long both
days.
Those of us who organized the event wanted to note
that there were a great many people that pitched in
and helped make the weekend fun, and we thank them all
for helping make everything run smoothly and
professionally. We expressed special appreciation at
the awards ceremony on Sunday night to Bob Boulware
for all the design work that went into the tournament
logo, website, disc, and banners; to Dan Magallanes
for providing an excellent and professional sound to
the weekend as the "voice" of the event; and to Getty
(Jeff) Freeman for providing the sound system (and the
party kegs!) and working tirelessly to ensure awesome
music throughout the tournament. The trophies this
year were individually designed and glazed by an
extremely talented local potter, Barb Dunshee,
enabling us to present very unique awards for those
who excelled at this year's World Championships.
(Barb's work can be seen at: www.bdpottery.com).
It was our great pleasure to provide lots of food,
coffee, water, non-stop Odwalla juices, massages, and
all the other things that we hoped would ensure that
the competitors would feel comfortable and
well-cared-for so that we could all have the most fun
and compete at our very best.
Okay, all that said, below are the results of the
finals on Sunday (thanks to Arthur Coddington's
Shrednow.com for posting these numbers).
Wishing you all love, peace, and a wonderful summer
from Seattle. Can't wait to see you and jam again
again soon,
Lisa
